Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) is an intracellular polyester synthesized in many bacteria. It exists mainly as a carbon source and energy storage material in living organisms and has physicochemical properties similar to synthetic plastics.
It also has many excellent properties such as biodegradability, biocompatibility, optical activity, piezoelectricity, and gas barrier properties that synthetic plastic not have.
Polyhydroxyalkanoate has broad application prospects in biodegradable packaging materials, tissue engineering materials, sustained-release materials, electrical materials and medical materials.
